Becker Architects began in New York City in 1982, designing corporate build-outs, medical offices and residential renovations of apartments and townhouses, primarily in Manhattan. Since our relocation to the Chicago area in 1989, we have designed hundreds of commercial and residential projects, from new construction to rehabilitation and additions. We have a very diverse clientele ranging from homeowners to business owners to tenants to facility managers. We have three areas of expertise:
RESIDENTIAL. Our rehabs, additions and new construction are primarily in the Chicago metropolitan area though we work in other parts of the US as well. Our residential work has received national and local attention in awards programs and publications such as AIA Chicago Architect, Preservation, Chicago Tribune, Builder, Remodeling, Chicago Home, Better Homes and Gardens, House Beautiful, Driehaus Foundation and Traditional Home. We have been featured in a number of HGTV productions, including the 13-week reality series, Dream House. Since 1991, the Highland Park Historic Preservation Commission has awarded our projects twelve times.
AUTO DEALERSHIPS. Becker Architects has designed over 30 automobile dealerships in the Chicago and Milwaukee metro areas since the mid 1990’s. We’ve worked with many of the major automobile manufacturers including Audi, BMW, Cadillac, Chevrolet, Chrysler, Ford, GMC, Honda, Hyundai, Kia, Mercedes, Nissan, Subaru, Toyota, Volvo and others. We have extensive experience helping dealers navigate various requirements, improving upon the manufacturer’s designs so as to improve functionality as well as reduce construction cost. In addition to the traditional services that other architecture firms offer, we have assisted owners in site selection, subdivisions and real estate development.
GENERAL COMMERCIAL. New ground up buildings, tenant build-outs, retail, office and others.
SOME OF THE SERVICES WE OFFER: Site selection, Programming, Zoning studies, Zoning variation cases, Feasibility studies, Schematic Design, Pricing exercises, 3D studies, Promotional materials, Renderings, Interiors, Construction Documents, Contractor selection, Bidding and Construction Administration.
